My name is Age MacKenzie. I am a Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach and Behaviour Change Specialist, providing a reliable and high quality fitness, health and nutrition experience for those intent on living their best lives!

All the Programmes at Altered Images Weight Management and Lifestyle Consultancy are personalised around your goals and your experiences. Everyone is different, and your coaching should be too! Everything is covered from mindfulness and meditation, cardio-vascular training and weight training, through to diet and nutrition, using the latest scientific research and habit based coaching with a focus on your own life.

I commit to provide this realistic training advice, sound nutrition coaching, achievable lifestyle change and a solid support system for my clients in an exclusive one-on-one studio environment, using the best techniques and equipment. I coach people through the unique challenges they face on a daily basis, whether emotional or physical, with proven methods backed by top research.

My Evolution as a Personal Trainer (PT)

Many years devoted to training hundreds of individuals have led me to believe there’s much more to a PT than a basic knowledge of physiology and technique. After qualification a good PT will apply this knowledge to the individual, which requires assessing not only their physical condition, but also their emotional and mental state. A successful PT is going to build a programme around that individual’s personality, having consideration for their lifestyle and incorporating their real world in pursuit of ideal health and appearance.

Health and Fitness Clubs and Leisure Centres are often over-subscribed and under-resourced with junior members of staff. This cocktail of inexperience, lack of knowledge, and lack of personal service inevitably leads to masses of people joining gyms, only to become disillusioned after a couple of months of expensive, unproductive and isolated training with little to no nutritional or emotional support. This experience can be enough to put people off Health and Fitness for life.

Altered Images has recognised the value of habit based coaching. Habits can be defined as mindless actions about which we are not totally aware. My approach, therefore, is to help people become ‘mindful’ of their lifestyle habits and help to guide them into making rational, informed decisions about their state of health and wellbeing. This encourages feelings of autonomy, self-efficacy, induces greater self-esteem and self-perception and also helps engage with the movement of the body from the inside out, which is something quite different from the hands-on personal training available in the commercial setting for the mass market described above.

Altered Images has proved time and again that self-determined forms of behaviour are the best predictor of adherence to exercise and healthy lifestyle. Galileo once said “You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him discover it within himself”.

What makes Altered Images so special isn’t just my exclusive facilities, or even my knowledge and experience. The over-riding factor is that I care.
